Hotel Alexandros, Platis Gialos

A family-run hotel of about fifty rooms spread across six whitewashed buildings on a hillside, laid out like a small Cycladic village with stone walls, terraces and gardens. It sits 500 feet from Platis Gialos, the island's best-known sandy beach, with its shops and tavernas.
Writers have a pool and pool bar, a breakfast terrace looking out over the bay, wireless internet throughout, and quiet corners of garden to write in. A bus stop right outside connects to the capital, Apollonia, and the rest of the island.
Reaching Sifnos
Most writers fly into Athens and take a fast ferry from the port of Piraeus to Kamares, the island's harbor. The trip takes roughly three hours in early summer; conventional ferries take longer. From Kamares it's about a 20-minute drive to the hotel.
Once your place is confirmed, we'll send ferry timetables, recommended connections and arrange your transfer from Kamares on arrival day.
